Cobra, Wireless and Me

It's......what?......11 something on a cold wednesday in January. Wednesday is midweek drinking day. After 4 bottles of Cobra I am sat here downloading songs from limewire and listening to them via a wireless techno thingy that enables me to hear songs through a) the TV, b) my ipod, c) the stereo d) the toaster. .....I don't get all this but my husband works 'In Computers' and I benefit from the futuristic toys he gets through work.

As I write I am listening to "Thinking about you" by Radiohead and will move on to 'Take me to the river' by talking heads (good version). What a nice evening!

.....However, In less than 9 hours I will have to face 30 14 yr olds all 'keen' (ahem) to know about the problem of evil. Not sure I'll be up to it!
lesson plan:
Evil exists
It's shit
God might/might not exist
the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive
you decide , i'm hungover!

even the drunken me can't let myself get away with using the term evil as if it were meaningful......not to say that any substitute would be any more meaningful....enough already!

Had you noticed how vile and live are both anagrams of evil?

Here's the best way of looking at the problem of evil:

Given that evil exists (or perhaps more precisely, bad things happen), if we want to posit a God we must choose between omnipotence and benevolence. That is, there's either an omnipotent and thus (considering all the bad things which happen) capricious, callous, indifferent God or there's a benevolent "good" God but He isn't omnipotent (otherwise he would have prevented the tsunami for example).

Or, maybe God is "good", but he uses different criteria to our mortal criteria to judge what is "good" and what is "evil". Although, I suppose you'd say that he cannot be "good" by our definition while simultaneously allowing "bad" (by our def.) things to happen.

Woah, 4 Cobra beers on a Wednesday. I'd be rockin' all over the shop!

I want to get me one of those nifty music thangs - what's it called? Is it the strange white thing that Richard had on his blog a while ago? Mmmmm, gadgets. :D

Nope - its lap top, plus wireless network, plus wireless media centre - this means you can download porn or music from the internet, then wirelessly send it to you telly or stereo. A blisteringly brilliant, slow-burning orgasm of a gadgetry treat...

Depressing note: your lesson plan asserts that evil does exist, while God may or may not exist. So, zero sum is the best case scenario? I think I'll go listen to some emo and cry.

I think that wireless technology you're using for your television or stereo is actually illegal in Britain.

Read this.

See why your anonymity is important? You've already confessed to breaking the law! :-)

I'm not sure how diligently the authorities will enforce this law. You might like to read this bulletin board discussion too.

EAGLE - The Trip is certainly illegal, and we have long used it with that knowledge. But in fact that's not what Maurice was talking about: we use a bog standard WLAN with a wireless media centre - As legal as can be.

Frank, maybe god gave people free will, and if he came and stopped disasters people would depend on him making people less independant

Eagle, I take your point about the dangers of blogging about school which is why I haven't. You're right, wireless ipod thingy is illegal soI will refrain from usinig it in future.
have enjoyed reading your blog but have yet to make comments.
